New features in this release include:
- Tax.
- The custom house.
- Capturing of goods.
- Lost city rumours.
- AI for the european players and the royal expeditionary force.
- Fight the war of independence.
- Separate graphics for each type of forest.
- Get a list of public game servers on the Internet.
- Join a running multiplayer game (if not all of the four european powers are controlled by humans).
- A user friendly installer.
Additionally, this release includes many bugfixes as well. |

This latest release of FreeCol is focused mainly on the improvement of the artificial intelligence and on the addition of new features that allow the player to interact with the natives.
On top of that we've made the game compatible with J2SE 5.0, we did some cosmetic updates and fixed a lot of bugs.
Changes from version 0.4.0-pre are mostly cosmetic updates and bugfixes. |

We have prepared a release candidate for FreeCol 0.4.0. This pre-release contains all of the major features intended for the official release, but is not expected to be completely stable. Please report any bugs you might encounter, in order to help us make the official release more stable.
Changes from version 0.3.0:
- Compatability with J2SE 5.0
- AI for indian players
- Visiting indian villages (colonist, missionary and scout)
- Trade with indians.
- Graphical updates and Colonizopedia framework

FreeCol 0.3.0 Released |

This is the first release of FreeCol in which it is possible to play and win a multiplayer game.
The code has been redesigned and restructed in order to make the ongoing development easier. Several new features have been
added such as colonies, founding fathers, immigration, combat, trade, terrain improvements, save/load, sound and many GUI improvements.

This second release of FreeCol is the first release of FreeCol that is completely written in Java. It adds a first implementation of 'Europe' which will allow you to buy many different units and to give them equipment as you like. There have also been many gui improvements such as extra controls and more performant screen drawing. |
